Shoppable video solutions company Mobidoo is launching its expansion into the global market, starting with its entry into Japan. Recently, Mobidoo established "Mobidoo Japan" and plans to expand its overseas operations by tapping into Japan's e-commerce market, the fourth largest in the world.
Mobidoo operates the shoppable video technology solution "Sauce," which provides a Shoppable 360 service designed to enhance customer engagement and conversion through video-based commerce. The solution includes live shopping and short-form video solutions, as well as content production and real-time targeted marketing.
According to global statistics provider Statista, Japan's e-commerce market is projected to reach approximately $169 billion (KRW 249 trillion) by 2024. To capitalize on this, Mobidoo partnered with Japanese global social commerce company COCOA (Cross Over Center Of Asia) last month to establish the joint venture "Mobidoo Japan," which will commence full-scale operations in Japan this year.
Mobidoo Japan plans to introduce its short-form commerce solution, "SauceClip," to the Japanese market. As demand grows among businesses looking to integrate short-form content with product sales, SauceClip is expected to optimize purchase conversions and contribute to revenue growth in Japan’s e-commerce industry.
Additionally, Mobidoo is preparing to launch a cross-border live commerce business between Korea and Japan. This initiative will enable the real-time sale of popular Japanese beauty and fashion products to Korean consumers, while also facilitating the direct sale of Korean products to Japanese customers.
Mobidoo CEO Lee Yoon-hee stated, "Live and short-form commerce is rapidly expanding among Japan’s MZ generation, and with the growth of cross-border e-commerce, our expansion into Japan will serve as a strong foundation for Mobidoo's global business."
Beyond Japan, Mobidoo is also accelerating its expansion into other Asian markets, including Thailand and Vietnam. Notably, in Thailand—where live commerce is experiencing rapid growth—Mobidoo signed an MOU with local agency GABC last month. Leveraging GABC’s distribution expertise, Mobidoo aims to expand live commerce sales of Korean beauty and fashion brands in the region.
